ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management
Business continuity encompasses planning and preparation to ensure that an organization can continue to operate in case of serious incidents or disasters and is able to recover to an operation state within a reasonably short period. As such, business continuity includes three keys elements and they are:
Resilience: Critical business functions and the suppoting infrastructure must be designed in such a way that they are materially unaffected by relevant disruptions, for example through the use of redundancy and spare capacity;
Recovery: arrangements have to be made to recover or restore critical and less critical business functions that fail for some reason.
Contingency: the organization establishes a generalized capability and readiness to cope offectively wit whatever major incidents and disaster occur, those that wre not, and perhaps could not have been foreseen. Contingency preparations constitute a last-resort response if resilience and recovery arragnements should prove inadequate in pratice.
ISO 31000 is a standard for Risk Management
The goal of ISO 31000 is to establish generic principles and guidelines on risk management. ISO 31000 has created a universally recognized framework for managing the various risk types of any organization of any size independent segment.
Risks are increasingly frequent in organizations and need to be managed, regardless of the type of risk, be it risk to information, risk of project, organizational or corporate risks, riks of service continuity and others.
No matter what type of risk, ISO 31000 was created with the goal to providing a common layout for managing risks of any type or size.
